Hey it's Keith Kravitz and here's a list of what's hot when it comes to Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas & South Rim...

Bottom Picnic Limo w/ Strip
|
The best-value tour in my book is the deluxe bottom picnic tour. Yes, this trip does cost more than the basic version, but the perks are so darn hot that it's worth it. First, hotel transfers are by limo. Second, the package includes an extended tour over the Vegas Strip. Finally,
and most important perk of all, is you get to fly in an EC 130 helicopter, which boasts a 180-degree wraparound window and a cabin that's 25 percent larger than those found on the old helicopters. Learn more...

This is the tour for those travelers who want it all. And by all I mean top, bottom, boat and Skywalk. The trip starts with descent to the bottom. Then you transfer to a pontoon boat and do the Colorado River. Back on the chopper, you make the 3,500-foot ascent back to the top. Next
you take on the Skywalk, an all-glass platform bridge that lets you walk some 75 feet over the edge. There's also plenty of time to explore the top of the rim via the free hop-on-hop-off shuttle provided by the Hualapai Indian tribe. Read more...

If you got limited time or you're just wanting a luxurious Canyon flyover, the deluxe no-landing is the ONLY way to go. This flight takes off from the Vegas Strip and goes over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Colorado River and the Grand Canyon. Before landing, you'll do a U-turn around the
Stratosphere Tower and head south down the Strip over the best Vegas has to offer. After landing, hop back in the limo and head back to your hotel. Like all deluxe trips, these tours uses the EcoStar 130 chopper, a technological masterpiece comes equipped with stadium-style bucket seats. Learn more...

Folks, Grand Canyon National Park is comprised of more than 1-million acres of wilderness. Consider that, because if you stay on the ground, you're only going to see a fraction of it. Take the 50-minute helicopter tour and you'll be able to feast your eyes on up to 75 percent of this
majestic landscape. Specifically, you'll see the South Rim, East Rim, North Rim and the Dragoon Corridor (the widest, deepest section of the Canyon) when it's all said and done. It's no understatement to call this the flight-of-a-lifetime. Read more...

The weather is absolutely stellar for taking a float tour down the Colorado River. But first this tour kicks off with a landing on the bottom of the Canyon floor. There's you'll deplane and check out some of the Earth's oldest exposed surfaces. Then it's raft time, which starts at the
base of the famous Hoover Dam. There you’ll transfer to an adventure-grade pontoon raft and take off through Black Canyon until you reach Willow Beach. There's plenty of opportunities for swimming and lunch is included. Just remember to pack some sunscreen and a dry bag for a change of clothes. Learn more...

Airplane - Vegas to South Rim
|
How long does it take to go from Vegas to the South Rim by car or bus? Answer: 5.5 hours. How long does it take to do it by plane? Answer: 60 minutes! Sorry, folks, but I'm taking the plane. I'm a fan of the road trip, but if I have to drive to South Rim, explore it, and then turn
around and head back to Vegas, well, that's 11 hours in a car and I'm just not up for that. If you prefer the air option like me, you'll love this plane tour because it also comes with a South Rim 30-minute helicopter ride as well as a bus trip inside the Park that takes in all the hotspots. Oh, and lunch is included, too. Read More...

There are six seats plus the pilot in a helicopter. That means 4 seats in the back and two in the front. If you go with a deluxe tour, which uses the spacious EC 130 chopper, you don't have much to worry about because the views are good wherever you sit. However, I'd be an idiot if I
didn't say the front seats are the best. Unfortunately, there's only two of them and they are allocated in a lottery style system based on weight. That said, you do have a chance to request them as you go through online checkout. By doing this (and not many people do), you give yourself an edge in terms of getting one of those coveted slots. It's no guarantee but it does increase the odds. Learn more...
