Hey it's Keith Kravitz and this is Helicopter Weekend Update!
Christmas 2018 is nearly upon us and I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a super New Year!
Over here at Grand Canyon Helicopters, we'll be up and running throughout the holidays except for Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Keep that date in mind as you book as it's the only day of the year we are closed.
Otherwise, we are open for business!
This applies to tours from Las Vegas and the South Rim (Tusayan, AZ, Grand Canyon National Park Airport).
Airplane tours, too, will be running on a regular schedule.
I know I sound like a broken record but please book your tour in advance. It's the holidays, folks, and every day is like Black Friday, which means we got everyone and nephew trying to get airborne.
Las Vegas, NV
I'm seeing a lot of folks on a medium-to-tight budget. No worries. I got just the tour. It's the all-air (no-landing option). Flies over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Colorado River before doing the Canyon. Includes free hotel transfers. You can't get a better value tour than that!
I'm also getting a ton of inquiries about our Skywalk helicopter tours. There's a deluxe and a basic option. The deluxe Skywalk takes off from Vegas and includes the Vegas Strip and VIP Skywalk tickets. Plus it comes with free hotel transfers by limo!
The basic Skywalk tour departs from the Boulder City airport (20-minutes from Las Vegas) and it's the cheaper option. You get Hoover Dam and the Canyon and all that. But hotel transfers are by shuttle van. If you're a no-frills travelers, this is the glass-bridge tour for you!
Lastly, we are still taking reservations for the helicopter and raft tour. This trip starts with a heli to the bottom followed by an 11.5-mile float down the Colorado River. Includes continental breakfast and lunch and free hotel transfers. Folks are suprised we offer this in Oct. but the weather is so good out here that we run this
tour through Nov. (and perhaps longer if reasonable!).
What to Wear
Lots of questions about what to wear during a fall/winter helicopter tour. In a nutshell: Layers. A light jacket over a fleece or just a fleece over a thick long-sleeved shirt. This especially applies if you are doing a landing tour in which you exit the helicopter, which is climate-controlled and nice and warm and comfortable. Also, please wear closed-toe shoes. The ground can be rocky and will trash high-heels etc. Go here for more info on what to wear...
South Rim/Tusayan, AZ
Just like Las Vegas, I get lots of folks and families on a budget. If that's you, take the 30-minute basic helicopter tour. This one goes from South Rim to North Rim and back via the Dragoon Corridor. It's one of the best air-tour deals out there and highly recommended.
For those with a thicker wallet, by all means please do the 50-minute ride. This tour covers all the rims except the West Rim (too far) and once you've done this you'll have seen up to 75 percent of the national park. The canyon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and this tour delivers that and more. Or consider this airplane tour, which is cheaper, does the same thing except it flies at a higher altitude.
(I also have a 50-minute helicopter + 2-hr. Jeep tour but it's super limited and only available over the phone. If you want it, call me at 702-530-8687. Ask for Keith).
